ABOUT
Before Glamour Locks made waves in Orange County with its innovative, non-damaging hair extension system, the journey began far from the glitz and glamour of California. In the vibrant streets of Beirut, Lebanon, Paula grew up in her parents' salon, where she developed a deep appreciation for beauty and haircare. These formative experiences set the stage for Glamour Locks, which emerged from decades of experience, relentless innovation, and a commitment to offering something truly unique to the hair extension industry.
A Story of
Resilience & Passion
Paula's journey is one of resilience and determination, beginning amid the turmoil of Beirut's civil war. Faced with unrest, Paula and her family sought refuge first in Athens, Greece, where they revived their dream by opening a new salon. Those formative years were marked by meaningful connections with clients, providing Paula with a haven of tranquility — a stark contrast to the chaos they had left behind. It was here that Paula deepened her understanding of beauty and self-expression, reassuring her that her calling was in the world of haircare.
In 1979, the family's journey brought them to sunny Southern California, a pivotal move that set the stage for Paula's future achievements. After completing her high school and beauty school education, Paula quickly established herself as a sought-after hairstylist. By the age of 19, she had already mastered advanced techniques, thanks to her early exposure in her parents' salons.
The Birth of
Glamour Locks
A significant turning point in Paula's career arose when she was introduced to hair extensions. Alarmed by the damage caused by traditional methods, she was resolute in her mission to create a better alternative. This dedication culminated in the development of the Glamour Locks Hair Extension System, a groundbreaking technique designed to volumize and lengthen hair without the detrimental side effects.
The success of her innovation was unprecedented, attracting clients from across the nation who were eager to experience this unique approach. Recognizing its potential, Paula secured a patent, solidifying Glamour Locks' status in the beauty industry.
Before the Glamour Locks Hair Extension System existed, the extension industry had a serious problem — and most clients simply accepted it as the cost of having longer hair. Glue bonds that weakened natural strands at the root. Tape strips that pulled and slipped. Micro-links that created pressure points along the scalp. Every method on the market at the time traded hair health for cosmetic results, and the damage was often invisible until it was already done.
Paula Rodriguez refused to accept that tradeoff. Having spent her entire career in beauty — from her parents' salon in Beirut to her early years as a stylist in Southern California — she understood hair health at a foundational level. When she began working with extensions, she saw the damage firsthand: clients coming in with thinning edges, breakage along the hairline, and weakened mid-lengths caused by methods that prioritized speed and cost over the integrity of the natural hair beneath.
Her response was to start from scratch. Rather than adapt an existing method, Paula developed an entirely new approach — one built around the principle that extensions should work with the natural hair, not against it. The core of her innovation was a custom tension strap tool that distributes the weight of the weft evenly across a wider surface area, rather than concentrating pressure at individual attachment points. The result: extensions that sit comfortably against the scalp, place no undue stress on the follicle, and allow the natural hair underneath to grow undisturbed throughout the wear cycle.
The system was refined over years of real-world application, client feedback, and technical iteration. Paula wasn't working from theory — she was installing extensions daily, observing how the hair behaved over weeks and months, and making adjustments based on what she saw. That hands-on development process is what separates the Glamour Locks system from methods that were designed in a lab or reverse-engineered from existing products.
The patent came as a natural result of that work. U.S. Patent Design No. 7,252,093 B2 formalized what Paula had built — a proprietary method with a unique tool, a specific installation technique, and a documented system that no other salon could replicate. It wasn't filed to protect a business interest. It was filed because what she had created was genuinely new.
Word spread quickly. Clients who had given up on extensions — after traction alopecia, after repeated breakage, after disappointment with every other method — found Glamour Locks and got results they hadn't thought were possible. Stylists took notice too. The reputation that built the Costa Mesa flagship, and eventually the Anaheim Hills location, was built entirely on the performance of that patented system and the quality of the hair installed with it.
Today, the Glamour Locks Hair Extension System remains the foundation of everything we do — and the reason clients drive from across Southern California, and beyond, to sit in our chair.

Our First Salon —
17th & Glamour
In 2005, Glamour Locks opened its very first dedicated hair extension salon just steps from our current flagship location in Costa Mesa — a corner that would come to define Orange County's standard for extension artistry. From day one, we offered the same patented, non-damaging method that clients trust today: no glue, no tape, no compromise.
What began as a boutique studio quickly built a reputation that spread well beyond Costa Mesa. Word spread fast — clients drove in from across Southern California for results they simply couldn't find anywhere else. As demand grew and our team expanded, we outgrew the original space entirely, setting the stage for a move into a larger, purpose-built flagship location. That momentum never stopped. What started on one corner of Costa Mesa has since grown into one of Orange County's most recognized names in luxury hair extensions.

Our Hair
Extension Suppliers
At Glamour Locks, we believe the best extension method is only as good as the hair being installed. That's why we source 100% single-donor human hair — cuticle-intact, never over-processed, and selected specifically for natural movement, long-term softness, and a seamless blend with your own hair.
We prioritize hair that is virgin or only minimally processed — maintaining strand integrity so extensions stay soft, hold shape, and resist tangling throughout the wear. Cuticle alignment is what separates truly premium hair from the rest: it reduces friction at the nape and mid-lengths, keeps the finish natural rather than overly shiny, and significantly extends the life of your install.
Many clients confuse "human hair" with "premium hair" — but the two are not the same. Over-processed hair labeled as human can look dull, tangle quickly, and lose its quality within weeks. Our standard is hair that performs consistently for months, not just on install day.
Not all human hair is created equal — and that distinction matters more than most clients realize when they're choosing where to get their extensions done. The term "human hair" is used broadly across the industry, but it covers an enormous range of quality. At Glamour Locks, we've spent years developing relationships with suppliers who meet our standard, not just a label.
The foundation of our quality standard is single-donor hair — meaning every bundle comes from one individual source rather than being blended from multiple donors. Multi-donor blends are common in the mass market because they're cheaper to produce, but they result in inconsistent texture, mismatched cuticle direction, and a finish that tangles far faster than single-source hair. Single-donor hair behaves consistently from root to end, which is what allows our installs to move, style, and wear like your natural hair.
Cuticle integrity is the second pillar of our sourcing standard. The cuticle is the outermost layer of each hair strand — a microscopic scale structure that, when intact and aligned in the same direction, keeps hair smooth, reduces friction, and allows the strands to reflect light naturally rather than appearing plastic or overly glossy. Hair that has been stripped of its cuticle (common in heavily processed or acid-washed extensions) may look shiny in the packaging, but it starts to degrade almost immediately. Ours doesn't.
We also prioritize virgin or minimally processed hair. Virgin hair has never been chemically colored or permed — it retains the full strength and elasticity of an untouched strand. When some degree of processing is needed to achieve a specific tone, we work only with suppliers who use low-damage methods and preserve the cuticle throughout. The result is hair that can still be heat styled, colored again if needed, and worn daily without accelerated breakdown.
Longevity is where sourcing decisions show their true cost. Clients who've had extensions elsewhere often come to us after a disappointing experience — extensions that tangled within weeks, lost their softness after a few washes, or started shedding from the weft prematurely. In almost every case, the root cause is hair quality, not the installation method. Our clients regularly wear their Glamour Locks extensions for up to a year with proper maintenance — a result that simply isn't achievable with lower-grade hair, regardless of how skilled the stylist is.
We've sourced hair from suppliers across Europe and have made direct visits to evaluate quality firsthand. That hands-on approach — assessing texture, cuticle alignment, and processing history at the source — is part of what sets our product apart from salons that order through distributors without knowing what they're actually installing.
When you sit in our chair, you're getting the benefit of that sourcing work. Every weft we install has been selected to blend naturally, hold up over time, and perform the way premium hair should — from the first day to the last appointment of your wear cycle.
