Taking Care of Your Glamour Locks Hair Extensions

Keeping Hair Clean
Use a Sulfate-Free, pH-Balanced Moisturizing Shampoo on your extension hair. Wash 1–2 times per week to keep hair clean without over-drying. Always wash your hair right after using a Jacuzzi or exercising.
Extension hair doesn’t receive nutrients from your scalp, so treat it like dry or damaged hair — always condition generously from mid-shaft to ends.
Brushing
Proper brushing technique is one of the most important habits for long-lasting extensions. Done incorrectly, brushing is the fastest way to cause tangling and unnecessary tension on your natural hair.
Styling
Your Glamour Locks extensions can be styled just like your natural hair — blow dried, curled, or straightened. Be gentle and avoid tugging. Always apply heat protection before using any hot tool.
Spray Thermal Defense Hot Tools Mist on one section at a time right before applying heat to protect the hair and add hold.
Styling Curly Extensions
Brush only when wet. Apply Smoothing Leave-In Therapy, Argan Oil or Serum, and Biolage Gel. Scrunch and let air dry. Avoid touching, brushing, or running fingers through your hair as it dries — this causes frizz and loosens the curl.
Important Tips & Guidelines
We cannot guarantee hair health with excessive heat. Turn down the temperature, use heat protection, and consider hot rollers as a safer alternative.
Brush before bed and pull back in a low ponytail or high bun. Never go to bed with wet hair — it causes matting overnight.
Do not chemically alter your extension hair. If you do, it is at your own risk and Glamour Locks cannot be held responsible for any damage.
Wet hair before entering water and apply silicone, then braid. Reapply silicone between swims. Rinse, condition, brush, and apply Leave-In Therapy immediately after.
Schedule tightening appointments every 6–10 weeks depending on your hair growth. Ask your stylist for a personalized schedule.
If matting occurs, brush gently from ends to roots with a soft Glamour Locks brush. If still tangled, book with a Glamour Locks Specialist as soon as possible.
Removing Your Extensions
Your extensions should only be removed by a Glamour Locks Hair Extension Specialist. Do not attempt to remove them yourself or have any other person remove them. Improper removal can cause damage to your hair and scalp. Only a certified Glamour Locks Specialist has the training to remove them safely.
When it’s time for a removal or retie, book directly at one of our Orange County studios. Our specialists will remove, inspect, and reinstall your extensions with the same precision as your original appointment.
